Everyday Free World Photographs 2: Basil Brush

What the hell am I supposed to be? Boom! Boom!

A personal favourite find of mine that is situated inside Norwich City Rail Station is this lovely plastic, and extremely kitsch, Basil Brush replica. Although it looks absolutely nothing like the mischievous upper class fox, this apparently is not a big problem. The reason being that this grotesque mould is formed on behalf of the a blind charity. Unfortunately it is not just the blind who will be using this simulacrum: the non-blind public will also be dropping their cash into this plastic bin.

I'm sure the venerable Mr Peter Firmin will be happy to see his creation so monstrously ruined but for a good cause. Whether he would like to see Basil 'Boom Boom'-ing it in Norwich is another matter. Being the lair of many farmers, this Norfolk city would be the last place a fox would want to be visiting, let alone being chained to a railing.

Or perhaps I am completely misguided and the plastic caricature is not actually a replica of Basil Brush but instead is a carbon copy of Emily Pankhurst being chained to a railing to protest for women's rights.

Whatever the truth of the matter this is another beautiful photograph from the free world.
