Google Are Above the Law |
Google have just sent us the most ridiculous and sloping shoulders email I have ever seen. They have stopped our AdSense account because they claim they have witnessed 'invalid activity'. Basically people have come to our website, blog, and YouTube sites, and have clicked on the adverts on display. But, shock horror! The people who clicked on the adverts didn't buy anything from the advertiser. Here is the email sent to us by Google. So thoroughly unprofessional.

However, after thoroughly re-reviewing your account data and taking your feedback into consideration, our specialists have confirmed that we're unable to reinstate your AdSense account.
Please understand that, once we've reached a decision on your appeal, further appeals may not be considered, and you might not receive any further communication from us. Note that AdSense publishers whose accounts are disabled for violations of our Terms and Conditions are not eligible for further participation in AdSense. For this reason, you may not open new accounts.
Also, accounts disabled for invalid click activity will receive no further payment nor any reissue of previous payment. Your outstanding balance and Google's share of the revenue will both be fully refunded back to the affected advertisers. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
We understand that you may want more information about your account activity. However, because we have a need to protect our proprietary detection systems, we're unable to provide our publishers with any details about their account activity.
So basically they are saying:
We don't need to be transparent and fair. We don't need to abide by trading standards. Good bye.

So this is our response:
"Dear Sirs
Thank you for your email. I would appreciate being addressed by name and not a stupid 'Hello',which is extremely unprofessional.
You have given us no explanation, no evidence of your findings, and no reason other than your own 'invalid activity' to disable our account and withhold funds owed to us? I will take this matter up with trading standards as you have restricted our freedom to trade.
The invalid click ratio is rather spurious due to the fact that 100 people could go into a shop, look around and not buy anything for a multitude of reasons. Why are we getting penalised for your advertisers' inability to convert clicks into sales?
As a company we have no control over who clicks on our blogs and website or who clicks on the AdSense adverts. We are being penalised for people window-shopping and not buying. This is the responsibility of the people clicking the adverts. We cannot force people to buy what your advertisers are advertising. As far as we are aware we didn't think that there is a pressure for the people clicking on the adverts on our blog to buy anything they don't want to buy. So a click through ratio is meaningless.
Furthermore, we have spent money with yourselves on our own Google Adwords campaign getting 100 clicks a day with no sales. Therefore, by your own logic you now owe us a refund as you have provided us with an invalid click ratio.
Please advise when we will be refunded for the invalid activity you have provided for our Google Adwords campaign.
